Parents of Bride - Patricia & Ray McKibben - Wendy's parents have been married since 1970. They met in High School and were married upon graduation. They moved from Shreveport to Natchitoches to go to College, where my Dad earned degrees in Wildlife Management, Botany, and Zoology. My Mom worked at the grocery store and had me! After graduation, they moved a few miles away to manage Hodges Gardens. My sister was born around that time. After a few more years, when I was old enough to go to school, they moved us back up to Shreveport. After investing sweat equity in fixer-upper apartment houses, they built their dream house throughout the mid1980s. Dad is now working at General Motors and my Mom is a 4th grade teacher. Here is a recent photo of Mom and Dad (Hillary and Ori are sandwiched in between).

Parents of the Groom - Linda & Ron Spies - Terence's parents have been married since 1968. They met in Minneapolis where Linda was attending the Minneapolis Institute of the Arts and Ron was at the University of Minnesota. After having Terence and his brother Dan, the family roamed the world, spending four years in Australia, where Ron taught high school geography and Linda made art for doctor's offices and nurseries. Returning to the US, Ron obtained his graduate degree in Urban Planning at the University of Iowa, and worked for the Iowa and Wisconsin Departments of Transportations before returning to education, this time running transportation for the schools in Fort Collins, Colorado. Eventually the midwest called, and Ron now is Director of Operations for the Faribault Public Schools, and Linda is running her studio, teaching classes, and exhibiting in regional galleries. Here is a photograph I took of the whole crew during Thanksgiving of 2003.

Bridesmaids

Matron of Honor - Hillary McKibben Miller - I have known Hillary all her life :) she is my younger sister. Growing up in the same room for many years, we didn't get along as well as you might think. Once I went away to college about 10 years ago, we have become closer every day. Hillary lives in Austin, TX with her doting husband Mike and two wonderful children where she is a special eduction teacher.

Carrie Nicole Hauser - Carrie and I have known each other since 6th grade at Herndon. I was the new kid and Carrie was more or less in charge. I still don't know why she took pity on me. Anyway, Carrie and I have been close ever since. She lives in Shreveport with her man Blake Rainey and her doggie Miller where she works as a paralegal.

Catherine Tarbox Callen - I have known Cat since we began at Trilogy in 1997. With two children, a development job at a startup, on the planning and zoning commission, and running for mayor of Pflugerville, we hardly see each other anymore. ;) Then again, maybe my moving to California has something to do with it. We are all going to do Ragbrai this summer (road biking across Iowa) so that will give us time to catch up!

Erin Elizabeth Massey - We have known each other since 1990, when Carrie and I came to Magnet High. Throughout 14 years of different colleges, different cities and different, well, everything - we've managed to keep it together and stay close. Erin is a psychiatric social worker with a focus on chronically mentally ill. She now lives in Seattle with her husband Thom and their dog Oscar.

Laura Annette Houghton - I have known Laura since 1999, when Andrew dragged her from the Peace Corps. She was serving in West Africa when she came to Austin for a short time before the two of them moved to San Francisco. Not becoming close until this year, she has been great support in my transition back to the Bay Area and don't-worry-about-it wedding advice. Laura is an assistant news editor for Salon.

Groomsmen

Best Man - Daniel Ryan Spies - Dan is Terence's brother, and the daredevil of the Spies family. Dan became a Recon Marine after graduating from high school, and fought in Iraq and Somalia. After the Marines, Dan graduated from Luther College in Decorah Iowa, and then went onto Luther Collge in St. Paul, Minnesota. He's currently a youth pastor at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, Wisconsin

Andrew Houghton - Andrew is a traveller extraordinaire, founder of a network hosting company for non-profits, and an engineer at VolunteerMatch. Andrew was also a college roommate of Terence and Stefan at Carnegie Mellon. Andrew also worked with Wendy at Trilogy Software in Austin. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Laura and extremely fluffy cat Kokopelli. Photo of Laura, T and Andrew in the Winter 2004.

Eric Rescorla - Eric is a renowned security expert based in Palo Alto, California. The author of several internet standards, and a book on the SSL protocol, Eric and Terence met while Eric was reviewing security designs at Microsoft. Eric, a strong believer in the curative powers of weight training and long runs, has been Terence's training partner for years.

Michael Robin -Mike is a Redmond based software engineer, and was a founder of Conversa . Mike and Terence worked at Microsoft together through a number of projects. Mike is an avid collector of vintage watches, a stupendous cook, and lives in Redmond with his faithful dog Oscar.

Stefan Savage - Stefan is a professor of Computer Science at the University of California. Stefan and Terence were college roommates at Carnegie Mellon Univeristy, and started Asta Networks, a Seattle based networking company in 2000. Stefan currently lives in San Diego with his wife Tami, son Cole and cat Sigmund.

Support Team

Flower Girl - Ava Elise Miller - Ava is Wendy's Godchild. She was born a few weeks before Wendy and T met and was the first grandchild. Initially shy, she is a very curious little girl with lots of energy who doesn't hesitate to include you in her plans.

Officiant - Pastor, Dawn Lyn Spies Dawn is Terence's sister-in-law. Dawn was a consultant for Anderson Consulting before joining Dan at Luther Seminary. She is the Discipleship Pastor at Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, Wisconsin.

Greeter, Welcoming Committee - Kathleen Barberousse - Aunt Kathy is Wendy's Mother's sister and best friend. Think of her as the generational equivalent to Hillary. She is the principal of an elementary school in Shreveport.
